Stone carpet – how is it made?

Stone carpet is a modern solution for finishing outdoor surfaces, combining the natural beauty of aggregate with the durability of polyurethane resins. This system is created by bonding a properly prepared substrate with a layer of stone bound with resin – resulting in a uniform, permeable, and highly durable surface.

The process begins with the application of a primer – Purios Stone Primer, a two-component system (Parts A and B) that ensures strong adhesion to the substrate, typically concrete. Next, the main resin mixture – Purios Stone Floor PRO, also a two-component system – is prepared. Component A is thoroughly mixed with Component B (the hardener) in a separate container until a uniform consistency is achieved.

Once fully mixed, the resin is added to a bucket of natural aggregate. The mixture is stirred until the stones are evenly coated. The ready mass is then applied to the primed surface, creating a durable, visually appealing, and weather-resistant finishing layer.

Thanks to its structure and the materials used, the Purios stone carpet is an ideal solution for terraces, balconies, exterior stairs, driveways, and garden paths – offering not only long-lasting performance but also an elegant, nature-inspired appearance.

When developing Purios Stone Floor PRO, my goal was to combine durability, aesthetics, and functionality in demanding outdoor conditions. A key element is the use of polyurethane resin, which provides high UV resistance — an important competitive advantage that ensures long-lasting color retention and surface performance.

The system also features excellent adhesion, abrasion resistance, and an open structure that efficiently drains water, enhancing the surface’s durability. The application process is simple and precise, allowing for a stable and secure finish in any space.
