Epoxy Flooring – How is it Made?

An epoxy floor is a type of flooring finish created by applying a layer of epoxy resin onto a properly prepared surface, most often concrete. Epoxy resin is a two-component material that, when mixed, forms a durable, hard, and impermeable coating. Thanks to its properties, epoxy floors are highly resistant to mechanical damage, chemicals, abrasion, and moisture.

Characteristics of Epoxy Floor Coatings

Epoxy resin-based floor coatings harden due to the use of amine hardeners. They are characterized by:

High chemical resistance (including to acids, solvents, and alkalis)
Good adhesion to substrates (adhesion ≥ 2.0 N/mm²)
Excellent mechanical properties (high hardness and rigidity); Shore D hardness in the range of 70–80
Low permeability to water, water vapor, and oxygen
Good wear resistance
Moderate resistance to UV radiation (possible color changes due to light exposure)
Reduced flexibility, adapted to typical industrial applications

Industrial Line – intense, practical colors inspired by industrial marking systems (Traffic Line), such as bright red, yellow, and blue. This palette is designed with technical and industrial spaces in mind, where visibility, safety, and durability are the top priorities.

Thanks to its very low emission of volatile substances, Purios Epoxy Floor PRO is fully safe for use in rooms intended for permanent human occupancy – as confirmed by strict European standards.
