Polyurethane adhesives
Polyurethane adhesives are modern polymers with properties that surpass other solutions. One-component PUR adhesives require moisture (e.g., from the air) for full reaction, which allows strong polyurethane bonds to form at the desired moment.
Polyurethane adhesive means durability and strength
Polyurethane adhesive provides a more durable bond than older solutions. Additionally, it is versatile, enabling the bonding of various materials together.
The polymer formed in this way demonstrates high resistance to bending, abrasion, moisture, and temperature changes, and after curing, it is neutral to health. UV adhesives are also resistant to UV radiation.
A key advantage of PUR adhesive is that, depending on its ingredients, different properties can be achieved to meet the customer’s expectations.
Types of PUR adhesives
Polyurethane adhesives can be classified based on various criteria. Depending on the number of components needed to react with water, they are divided into:
- One-component,
- Two-component.
One-component adhesives, known as prepolymers, are characterized by not requiring any additional preparation and being ready to use immediately. Two-component adhesives require mixing the components in the right proportions.
Both one-component and two-component polyurethane adhesives are system products represented by our Puroxen brand.
Based on mechanical properties, adhesives are also categorized as:
- Flexible,
- Semi-rigid (hard).
Temperature also affects the adhesive’s effectiveness and reaction time. Therefore, adhesives are classified as:
- Cold-molding adhesives (CMA),
- Hot-molding adhesives (HMA).
